How does a multi-slit air conditioning system work ?

The operation of reversible air conditioners is similar to that of an air-to-air heat pump (thermal system), which draws indoor air to the outside through refrigerants that allow heat exchange, and the air conditioner consists of one or more indoor units. More precisely, four elements allow the proper functioning of the heating and air conditioning equipment, namely: compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator. The latter are integrated into the indoor units to capture the calories present in the air and transfer them to the refrigerant.

This fluid arrives at the compressor in the form of vapor, which is then sent to the condenser, which acts to evacuate the heat accumulated in the circuit, whose temperature oscillates between 50 and 70 degrees. Once this heat is removed, the fluid can cool down to its condensation temperature, bringing it back to a liquid state. This is where the regulator comes into play: this component lowers the pressure in the circuit, which in turn lowers the temperature of the fluid, thus cooling the component. If the air conditioner is reversible, the unit will also be equipped with a recirculation reversal valve to switch from cold to hot and vice versa. Finally, there are service valves to store refrigerant, add or remove refrigerant and control the pressure of the circuit.
Inverter technology on some units is used to increase the COP (Coefficient of Performance) and save money. Without it, the compressor will run until it reaches the desired temperature, then shut down completely. Then restart when the temperature rises, and so on. Inverter technology, on the other hand, compensates for temperature variations, using a compressor developed by Mitsubishi Electric. This provides plenty of power when you need it and slows it down when you don’t. As a result, the air inside is drier and more comfortable.

Split air conditioners also have the advantage of being relatively quiet compared to other systems, thanks to the ducts hidden in the walls. Therefore, their noise level is reduced compared to, for example, a single-package air conditioner. Another advantage is that it is a very responsive system and very easy to operate. In heating mode, it reaches a comfortable temperature much faster than a cast iron radiator. Multi-split reversible air conditioners have a high coefficient of performance because they provide more energy than they consume. These air conditioners use less energy to optimally cool each individual room. Each room can have its own comfortable temperature, but not with a single split air conditioner.
